Security System Differences

Security systems can be quite varied, and are determined by a number of factors.

There are “wireless” security systems and “wired” security systems.

There are “Camera” systems and “Non-Camera” systems.

Generally, when people first think of a security system, they’re actually thinking of an Alarm System.

In an alarm system, when an alarm sensor is activated by someone walking past, it starts a cycle of events that go something like this:

  1. The alarm keypad emits a low level continuous beep sound
  2. After 20-30 seconds (or what ever is specified by the alarm system owner) the external siren sounds
  3. If you have a low-end system it will call your mobile phone & leave a “siren sound”… If it’s a higher end alarm system it will send you an SMS with the sensor that’s activated (& why)
  4. At the same time, if the system is monitored by a security company – the monitoring station is alerted
  5. If two or more sensors have been activated in a short amount of time, and the system is been monitored – the security company may alert police.

All of this can happen in between 1 & 2 minutes.

And by that stage – often burglars have been and gone, and there’s a limited chance you’ll catch them.

Installing an alarm system does more than just produce alarm when activated – they are a VISIBLE deterrent that potential thieves take notice of when they are “casing the joint” – potentially reducing the likelihood of theft.

An even bigger deterrent to theft is the visible presence of CCTV Cameras. This is because the thief knows that they are being WATCHED and RECORDED.

However, having a CCTV set up is not actually a system that alerts you to a break in at your property. It just records the event for you to then use in a court of law as evidence if it’s required.

There is ONE systems that combines BOTH a CCTV camera, and an alarm system.

And that system is “Videofied” – it’s an alarm system – with a camera built into each alarm sensor device.

So – it only records when the sensor is activated!! Which is of course exactly when you want it to record.

And… It’s wireless. No cords. No Cables.

It can go anywhere.
